Nintendo of America's President and COO Reggie Fils-Aime recently appeared on Fox News to talk about the Nintendo Switch launch.

We've known that the sales have been great so far, with SuperData's most recent report suggesting that the console already sold over 1.5 million units globally, but Reggie added that the Switch continues to set records on a daily basis - at least on US soil - even when compared to Wii and DS/3DS.

The reaction to Nintendo Switch has been remarkable. Every day we're setting new records from a US perspective, meaning, you know, today I can look back and see how I compare to the launch of the Wii or the Nintendo DS or the Nintendo 3DS, and I'm setting sales records every day with the Nintendo Switch.

The reaction has been fantastic. Consumers want it, I've been with industry peers, they're excited with what we're doing and hoping to drive the industry. I've seen the games, like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, right now the fourth highest-rated game in the history of videogames.

We've turned the industry on its ear and to do that, to be part of a company that has a reputation for doing it on a regular basis, has been tremendous.

According to GameStop, initial sales have been so phenomenal that the Switch could eclipse the success of the Wii. Of course, it remains to be seen whether Nintendo can keep up the momentum and to this end, their reveals at E3 2017 will be critical. Reggie teased something about that later in his chat with Fox News, suggesting that it will be a big showcase not only for the Switch but also for the Nintendo 3DS.
