Paul Scholes believes Lyon are the only team who can stop Manchester United from winning the Europa League.

Jose Mourinho’s side face Anderlecht in the quarter-finals, while Celta Vigo, Genk, Ajax, Schalke, Lyon and Besiktas are also remaining in the competition.

With United’s hopes of securing a top-four finish still uncertain, winning the Europa League remains a viable route into next season’s Champions League for Mourinho’s men.

And Scholes feels only the Ligue 1 club can cause United problems.

‘It is a great chance for them,’ Scholes told Omnisport.

‘They are obviously the biggest club left in the competition. They are favourites and rightly so.

‘If they perform anything like [they can] they have got a great chance of winning.

‘I think Lyon are maybe the obvious contenders to United. But, apart from that, I don’t see too many problems for them in that competition.’
