Jack Wilshere left the White Hart Lane pitch with chants of ‘it’s happened again’ ringing in his ears after the on-loan Arsenal star injured his ankle in a collision with Harry Kane.

The England international endured a miserable return to north London, at fault for Tottenham’s second goal, he was generally given the run around by a rampant Spurs side who closed the gap at the top of the table to four points, ahead of Chelsea’s trip to Old Trafford on Sunday.

And Wilshere’s misery was compounded in the 55th minute when, in an attempt to deny Kane doubling his tally for the afternoon, he appeared to damage one of the ankles which has caused him so many problems over the course of an injury-hit career.

Wilshere has often enjoyed the opportunity to laugh at Tottenham’s expense, and once earned a misconduct charge for mocking Arsenal’s north London rivals during an FA Cup winning trophy parade, so you could hardly begrudge the home crowd, as well as those on social media, for enjoying a slice of revenge..
