Willian justified his inclusion in Antonio Conte’s starting line-up at Wembley by bagging a first-half brace as Chelsea defeated Tottenham to reach the FA Cup final.

Despite Eden Hazard’s sublime form during the current campaign, Conte opted to start Brazilian attacker Willian in the wide role.

The 28-year-old beat Hugo Lloris with a superb free-kick after only five minutes and scored from the spot shortly before half-time.

Willian was surprisingly substituted on 61 minutes with the score level – but late goals from Hazard and Nemanja Matic ensured Spurs suffered their seventh consecutive semi-final defeat.

Despite scoring 10 goals this season, Willian has not been a regular starter for Conte and reports claim Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is showing interest in his former player ahead of the summer transfer window.

Mourinho is set to oversee a substantial spending spree at Old Trafford this summer and is said to view Willian, who he worked with at Stamford Bridge, as a possible target.

And many United fans are relishing the prospect of seeing Willian switch allegiances after his influential display at Wembley.
