Diego Costa’s double ensured Chelsea restored their lead at the top of the Premier League table to seven points once more after a 4-2 win against Southampton.

Eden Hazard put the Blues ahead after five minutes but Oriol Romeu gave the Saints a deserved equaliser midway through the first half.

Chelsea piled forward towards the end of the half and got ahead just before the interval when Gary Cahill headed home.

Costa got his first of the game after the hour mark when he headed home Cesc Fabregas’ cross and got his brace when he finished off an exquisite team move to seal all three points with Ryan Bertrand grabbing a late consolation.
