David De Gea has told Jose Mourinho that he wants to leave Manchester United for Real Madrid, according to reports.

The Daily Record claims that in a private meeting between the pair, Mourinho directly asked his goalkeeper if he wants to join the Spanish club.

De Gea is alleged to have admitted to Mourinho that he would like to move to Madrid, but only if the opportunity is available.

The Spain international’s representatives have assured United that the goalkeeper will not force a move away from Old Trafford this summer.

Mourinho has reportedly told De Gea that he wants him to stay but understands the 26-year-old’s desire to return to his home city.

United are taking a firm stance with Madrid over De Gea and will only be willing to allow him to leave Old Trafford if a world-record fee for a goalkeeper is paid.

The current record was set by Juventus in 2001 as they paid £32.6 million to Parma to sign Gianluigi Buffon.
