Arsenal have opened negotiations to sign Jean Michael Seri ahead of the summer transfer window, according to reports.

Seri, 25, has been at the heart of Nice’s barnstorming season in Ligue 1 and the midfielder’s performances over the course of an impressive campaign have caught Arsenal’s attention.

The Guardian suggest Seri’s agent traveled to London last week for informal discussions with both the Gunners and bitter rivals Tottenham.

It’s understood Nice are demanding a fee of around £20million for Seri, with both Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona also expressing an interest in the highly-rated Ivory Coast international.

‘There are a lot of clubs that follow me. But there is nothing done,’ Seri revealed last week.

‘If I leave, it will be to join a club where there is a real desire to play football as in Nice.

‘And I’m not going to be on the bench, I’m leaving only if I know I’m going to play.’

Seri has a £33m release clause in his contract at Nice which expires in the summer of 2019.
