Glenn Hoddle believes Chelsea could be in a strong position to demand Real Madrid trade one of their superstars with them this summer if Eden Hazard departs.

The Spanish giants have reportedly made Hazard their top target this summer and are expected to make a major play for the Belgian international when the transfer window opens.

Chelsea could find it difficult to rebuff the advances of Real Madrid – however they could at least make sure a top talent comes in the opposite direction according to their former manager.

‘I think if his [Hazard’s] head’s turned and he wants to go to Real Madrid there’s some good players there that you could do a deal with.

‘There’s some real talent there that you could actually say “we want that lump of money but we also want him and him”’, Hoddle told BT Sport, before putting forward Isco as a potential target.

As well as Isco it’s possible Real Madrid could be prepared to give up James Rodriguez or Alvaro Morata as well.

‘You actually almost swing it around and you are the one that’s demanding,’ Hoddle added. ‘You actually turn it around on the front foot and demand who you want for the deal to go through.

‘If they’re that desperate for him then they’ll do it.’
