Jurgen Klopp has slammed the officiating during Liverpool’s game with Southampton at Anfield.

The Reds drew 0-0 in a dismal performance from Klopp’s side that saw James Milner miss a penalty in the second half.

Liverpool struggled to create clear cut chances and Anfield were continually enraged by the decisions made by referee Bobby Madley.

There were four minutes of added time after several incidents of time wasting by Southampton and two Saints were booked for trying to unfairly unnerve Milner in the build up to the penalty.

And Klopp was not impressed.

‘We had three or four situations where the fourth official saw it like we did but the headsets weren’t working,’ he said in his post-match press conference.

‘It was very emotional.

‘You saw what they did (with the penalty). On this side people would say it’s smart as Milly (Milner) missed. It wasn’t nice.

‘They got two yellow cards and with the delay, for us to have only four minutes additional time is ambitious.

‘You saw it, write it.

‘I don’t want to come across as a sore loser but you all saw it.

‘We are now really concentrated on West Ham.’

Klopp praised the Anfield atmosphere after calling for support in his pre-match programme notes.

But the Liverpool boss was completely happy with the pitch which he believes played a part in his side’s passing.

‘The pitch was really dry, we tried to water it as much as we could,’ he said.

‘You could see passes wondering why they were doing that.’
