Chelsea’s priority now has to be winning the Premier League title as quickly as possible, says Blues legend Pat Nevin ahead of their game against West Brom.

The Blues travel to the Hawthorns this Friday knowing that another three points will guarantee them as champions for the 2016/17 season.

Nevin says that while some fans would have preferred to see the team clinch the title at their home ground Stamford Bridge, he feels it is more important to just get the job done.

Chelsea have four more league fixtures before an FA Cup final showdown with Arsenal, and Nevin says wrapping the title up early could be good for Antonio Conte as he’ll need to keep his players fresh for that game.

Arsenal FA Cup (N) - Sat 27 May

‘The consideration now is of course trying to get the league won as quickly as possible,’ Nevin wrote in his column for Chelsea’s official site.

‘I have heard it said that a draw against West Brom on Friday and winning the title back at the Bridge would be the preferred option but that will not be the feeling within the camp. You just want it won as soon as possible to relieve any residual pressure.

‘It is also good to give the manager the option of resting players before the cup final if he can and if he wants to.’
