Jose Mourinho is prepared to deny David De Gea an emotional Old Trafford farewell amid increasing speculation the Spaniard will join Real Madrid this summer.

The Champions League finalists are honing in on the 26-year-old after failing to land him at the last minute as a result of a faulty fax machine back in 2015.

De Gea is expected to play on Sunday as United travel to White Hart Lane for the last ever match at Tottenham’s famous old stadium, but Mourinho has confirmed he will rotate his goalkeepers for the final two games of the season.

Mourinho’s side travel to Southampton in midweek before taking on relegation threatened Crystal Palace on the final day of the season.

The Special One has already confirmed Sergio Romero will be selected for the Europa League final against Ajax, while he intends to hand Joel Pereira a first Premier League start of his career before the end of the current campaign.

All of which means De Gea could have already played his last match at Old Trafford, his footballing home for the last seven years.

On Pereira, Mourinho said: ‘Joel is fantastic and I am going to give him a chance to play in the Premier League this season. In one of these last three matches, I am going to play Joel.

‘We need three good goalkeepers. We have two good goalkeepers with experience.

‘We have Spain’s national team goalkeeper (De Gea), Argentina’s national team goalkeeper (Romero) and we have a young boy that, for me, is going to be the Portuguese No 1.

‘Joel is just 20, but he was born in the club and made in the club.’
