He was on the field for just five minutes – but Manchester United wonderkid Angel Gomes has already got his first famous fan.

The 16-year-old became United’s youngest ever Premier League player when he came on as a late substitute for Wayne Rooney in the side’s 2-0 win against Crystal Palace.

The attacking midfielder, the cousin of former United star Luis Nani, was handed his debut after becoming the youngest winner of United’s Jimmy Murphy Player of the Year award on the Thursday before the game.

United have high hopes for the diminutive playmaker and it looks like Lyon ace Alexandre Lacazette is already a keen admirer.

Lacazette’s comment…

The Frenchman ‘liked’ Gomes’ Instagram post and followed it up by commenting with a string of emojis.

It’s not clear how the pair know one another but Gomes’ father was a footballer and mixing in the same circles as Nani is always helpful.
