Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has made the shock decision to start David Ospina over Petr Cech in goal against Chelsea for this Saturday’s FA Cup final, according to reports.

The Colombian shot-stopper has had a poor season as stand-in for Cech, often being used by Wenger in the club’s Champions League ties and other cup games.

However, the Daily Mirror claim he’s got the nod over Cech in this crucial game for the Gunners, despite also being in talks over leaving the club in a summer move to Fenerbahce.

The 28-year-old is in his third season at Arsenal and has played just 49 games for the club in all competitions, struggling to establish himself as number one ahead of either Cech or previous number one Wojciech Szczesny.

This strange move just adds to Arsenal’s vulnerability at the back, with Laurent Koscielny out suspended and Gabriel and Shkodran Mustafi both set to miss the final due to injury.

Cech had been expected to start this one after being drafted in for Ospina in the semi-final victory over Manchester City, but will be denied the chance to take on his former club at Wembley.

Ospina has played 13 games this season and has let in a remarkable 21 goals in that time, including ten over two legs in the Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich.

He has managed just four clean sheets in that period as well, with the last one coming against non-league Sutton United in the FA Cup.

Fans are understandably calling the result in Chelsea’s favour on the back of this decision, with the Blues already pre-match favourites to lift the cup and make it a double after already winning the Premier League…
