Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez has finally offered up an explanation for his touchline antics in defeats to Bayern Munich and Liverpool this season.

The Chilean forward caused a stir among Gunners supporters when he was seen laughing on the bench during the club’s 10-2 aggregate defeat to Bayern in the Champions League.

Sanchez also appeared to smirk as Arsenal quickly went 2-0 down to Liverpool in their game in March, after being dropped from Arsene Wenger’s starting line up in a surprise pre-match move.

Still, the former Barcelona man insists he always has a smile on his face because things happen for a reason and his attitude is to just keep on going.

Writing on Instagram, the 28-year-old said: ‘Do you know why there is always a smile on my face?

‘Because life taught me that you always need to find the bright side of things and remember that “EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON” and even though you might feel life keeps hitting you.. Fight to keep going, to look at the future.. And always remember that life wont be fair, so everytime you go through a bad time, show it you are strong enough to carry on and remember.. Keep your smile even when your heart is crying.’

Arsenal fans weren’t too happy with Sanchez at the time, but it may be that his relentless positivity has been a factor behind his tremendous form for so much of the season just gone.

Still, some fans could see this latest message as a hint from the player to accept how things turn out even if he does end up leaving the club in this summer’s transfer window.

Sanchez’s contract expires at the end of next season, leading to speculation that the likes of Chelsea, Bayern Munich or Paris Saint-Germain could snap him up on the cheap this year.
