Tottenham left-back Danny Rose has strongly hinted he wants out of the club amid rumours over his future ahead of this summer’s transfer window.

The England international has been strongly linked with Manchester United and Manchester City in recent months after his fine form at White Hart Lane this season.

Spurs have already been linked with United’s Luke Shaw as a like-for-like replacement in that position, and may now have to plan for life without one of their star players after his critical comments about the club.

Speaking about the futures of a number of Tottenham’s best players this summer, Rose singled out Harry Kane as loyal to the north Londoners. And though he didn’t name himself, he had plenty to say about others who might want a change.

‘I think the club can only do so much,’ he told BBC 5 Live.

‘I think a lot of it’s going to be down to the individual. I don’t want to speak on behalf of anyone, but working with someone like Harry Kane. I can tell you that his mindset will be “I’m staying at Tottenham, I’m going to break every single record … I’m going to captain this club into the new stadium”.

‘When you’ve got a player like him with that mindset I don’t think Tottenham have to worry. I think it just depends where the individual is in the stage of his career.

‘A player might feel that he’s done enough at Tottenham, and he might fancy a change. You might feel that Tottenham is a nearly-club, we nearly go close to winning the league, we nearly go close to winning the semi-final of the FA Cup.

‘I think the club can only do so much and try and make a place here that the club’s going in the right direction and if you stick with us it won’t be long before we win something.’
