Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger met with Lyon president Jean-Michael Aulas in France this week to agree on a fee for striker Alexandre Lacazette, according to reports.

Lacazette, 26, was set to join Atletico Madrid this summer before the La Liga giants saw their appeal on their transfer ban turned down.

The France international has since intimated that he’s looking to join another club and even suggested he’d be willing to join a team outside of the Champions League.

Wenger, 67, was handed a transfer kitty of £150million after signing a new two-year deal at the club last month and he was spotted with Gunners chief executive Ivan Gazidis in Nice this week.

The Sun claim the pair were in the south of France to meet Lyon president Aulas to agree a deal for Lacazette.

The Ligue 1 giants value Lacazette at around £50m and Arsenal would need to break their transfer record to bag the Frenchman.

Arsenal are in negotiations with Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil over new deals at the Emirates but they’re happy to make Lacazette one of their highest earners, with an offer of £250,000-a-week believed to be on the table.
