ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC is set to stay at Manchester United for a little longer than expected despite his contract running out in July.

The Swede's name appeared on the Premier League’s released list on Friday, with no word from United regarding a potential new deal.

However, it appears that the former Inter Milan forward will remain at the club and will be granted access to their Carrington training base while he continues his rehab.

Ibrahimovic suffered an ACL injury in April that is likely to keep him out until 2018 and which denied him the opportunity to play in the Europa League final in his native Sweden.

United had offered him the chance to stay on for another year but he did not think it was right to take the money while he was undergoing rehabilitation.

But if his recovery is successful he may still have a future with the club, if the Manchester-base side still deem him valuable, according to the MEN.

The Sweden international was undoubtedly the Red Devils' talisman last season and was a regular in Jose Mourinho's squad.

Ibrahimovic scored 28 goals in all competitions before his injury sidelined lined with a month of the go in the season.

Reports in Spain are claiming that the free agent will move to the US to prolong his career, with a move to LA Galaxy on the cards.
