Jose Mourinho has hailed the ‘quality’ that Victor Lindelof will bring to his squad at Manchester United after the defender was officially unveiled by the club on Wednesday evening.

Lindelof, 22, has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford since the January transfer window and the Red Devils finally got their man ahead of Chelsea who were also interested in the ex-Benfica star.

Mourinho is keen to add significant depth to his squad in the coming months and believes the Sweden centre-back will be a great addition to his defensive ranks.

‘Victor is a very talented young player, who has a great future ahead of him at United,’ Mourinho said upon Lindelof’s arrival.

‘Our season last year showed us that we need options and quality to add depth to the squad and Victor is the first to join us this summer.

‘I know that our fantastic group of players will welcome him as one of us.’

United are also expected to get a deal over the line for Real Madrid forward Alvaro Morata in the coming days.
