Chelsea are in line for a £2.7 million bonus when Mohamed Salah completes his transfer to Liverpool, according to reports.
The Times claims that the Premier League champions inserted a sell-on clause when they sold the Egypt international to Roma for £12 million last August.
The clause enables Chelsea to receive 10% of any profit Roma make on Salah, who is on the verge of joining Jurgen Klopp’s side in a £39m deal.
Salah has now agreed a four-year contract with Liverpool, which also has the option for another season, worth £90,000 a week.
Salah is due to arrive in England on a flight from Cairo on Tuesday evening and is expected to complete his medical on Wednesday.
The 25-year-old will become Klopp’s second signing of the summer after Liverpool secured a deal for Dominic Solanke from Chelsea earlier this month.
Liverpool’s move for Salah had threatened to reach a stalemate after they were reluctant to meet Roma’s asking price.
An initial £28m offer for the winger was rejected by the Serie A club, but on Saturday evening reports in Egypt claimed that Liverpool had agreed to match Roma’s valuation.
Salah will now become Liverpool’s most expensive signing in history, overtaking the £35m paid to Newcastle United for Andy Carroll in January 2011.
