Jose Mourinho wants Manchester United to complete the signing of Ivan Perisic before the squad travel to the United States for their pre-season tour, according to reports in Italy.

United remain in the race to sign the Croatia international from Inter, but a fee still hasn’t been agreed between the two clubs.

A €40 million (£35m) bid for Perisic has already been rejected by Inter, and United have been told to increase their offer to €50m (£44m).

Gazzetta dello Sport claim that Mourinho is keen for United to quickly conclude a deal within the next three weeks in order to have the 28-year-old in his squad for the opening game of their pre-season tour against LA Galaxy on July 15.

Inter are under pressure to sell one of their key players in order to meet Financial Fair Play regulations.

The Serie A club must raise €30m by the end of June or they face a €7m fine from UEFA, who could also impose further sanctions.

Perisic, meanwhile, is due to take part in a beach volleyball tournament in Porec, Croatia.

Perisic and his partner Niksa Dell’Orco have been given a wildcard to play in a World Tour event, which starts on Tuesday.

‘I want to go as far as possible,’ he told Gazzetta dello Sport.

‘The prize will be given to the Croatian beach volleyball association to promote the development of the sport.’
