Barcelona are reportedly hoping they can strike a deal to sign Ousmane Dembele from Borussia Dortmund in next summer’s transfer window as a move this year looks unlikely.

The France international is hot property at the moment and has also been linked with Manchester United and Chelsea in the last few days amid reports he wants to leave Dortmund.

However, Dortmund look unlikely to budge on letting the highly-rated 20-year-old leave after just one season with the club, so Barca hope they can try another tactic.

Determined to beat United and Chelsea to Dembele’s signature, the Catalan giants are hoping to strike a deal with Dortmund that can see them land him in time for the 2018/19 season instead, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The player himself has previously been reported as being keen on moving to the Nou Camp, and Barcelona will reportedly try to persuade him to snub any other offers that come his way this summer with the view of moving a year later.

Some speculation suggested the young forward had already agreed personal terms with Barcelona, but he may have to wait to get his move.

Dembele first broke onto the scene with Ligue 1 side Rennes in 2015/16 before earning a move to Dortmund, though Premier League clubs had also looked at him that summer.

Barcelona were also quick to notice him as well, though he wasn’t yet ready to join the La Liga giants over fears he would not be first choice.
