Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko has passed a medical in London ahead of his transfer to Chelsea, according to reports.

The break-out star is now on the verge of a switch to Stamford Bridge after Chelsea agreed a £35million fee with Monaco.

Bakayoko is to partner N’Golo Kante as Antonio Conte identified him as the missing piece in his Chelsea midfield.

The 22-year-old flew into London this week and has undergone his medical without any issues, according to the Sun.

Chelsea are confident they will iron out the final details of the deal in the coming days and are targeting an announcement before next week.

The transfer window officially opens on Saturday and Chelsea are hopeful they will be able announce Bakayoko in line with the opening.

Bakayoko was linked with Manchester United, but was keen to work under Conte at Chelsea rather than Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford.

The France international will be Chelsea’s first signing this summer and mark an exciting beginning to their transfer business.

Conte has reportedly been annoyed by the club dragging their heels on certain transfer targets, but Bakayoko will represent a huge addition to his squad.

Bakayoko was the dynamic energy behind Monaco’s remarkable season in Ligue 1 and in the Champions League.

Monaco lifted the Ligue 1 trophy and reached the semi-finals of the Champions League despite having an incredibly young and inexperienced side.

Chelsea are also thought to be closing in on a £60m deal for Juventus defender Alex Sandro.
