Real Madrid will reportedly hold a meeting with Cristiano Ronaldo next week to discuss his future amid speculation the forward is keen to move on from the Bernabeu in the summer transfer window.

Reports earlier this month claimed that a frustrated Ronaldo was itching to leave after supporters’ booing and whistling over course of Madrid’s season, despite the side winning both the Champions League and La Liga.

It’s understood Ronaldo is open to the idea of returning to Manchester United in the coming months but Florentino Perez is desperate to fend off Jose Mourinho’s advances for the Portugal attacker.

Marca suggest Madrid’s directors have scheduled a discussion with the 32-year-old superstar for next Monday or Tuesday to remove any hope of United landing their former player.

Ronaldo has been on international duty at the Confederations Cup this month but is returning to Spain after Portugal were beaten by Chile in the semi-final of the tournament.

On Ronaldo’s future at the Bernabeu, Perez recently stated: ‘Cristiano has a contract with Madrid so I do not give all this [speculation] the importance that others do.

‘We must wait and we will speak after the Confederations Cup. He is angry. Many people have wanted to damage him with this tax issue, and other issues, and that affects him.

‘We are delighted to have him at Madrid. I think Cristiano will also stay where he is. I have not spoken with Mendes about him. At the moment there is no reason to get too concerned.’
