Arsenal transfer target Alexandre Lacazette has been praised by legendary Gunners striker Thierry Henry ahead of what looks an imminent move from Lyon.

The France international scored 37 goals last season to put himself on the radar of top clubs around Europe and now looks set to seal a £45million move to the Emirates Stadium.

Henry was one of the best strikers in the world at his peak, and has been suitably impressed by the exploits of Lacazette in recent times as he looks set to become the next French forward to lead the line for Arsenal.

‘For me, what Lacazette is doing is extraordinary,’ Henry said.

‘He has become aware of his qualities and he is especially aware that he cannot be average. Congratulations to him, really.’

Latest updates on the move today suggests Lacazette wants a move to north London despite interest from Atletico Madrid, while the two clubs are supposedly closer to agreeing a fee.

This is likely to see the 26-year-old become Arsenal’s all-time record signing, surpassing the £42.5m they paid Real Madrid for Mesut Ozil in 2013.

Meanwhile, Lyon have signed striker Mariano Diaz from Real Madrid, joining Bertrand Traore in what looks like an attempt by the Ligue 1 giants to replace their top scorer for next season.
