Carlo Ancelotti insists Bayern Munich are ‘ready’ to make a move for Alexis Sanchez if Arsenal indicate that the Chilean is available this summer.

Arsene Wenger has publicly insisted that the 28-year-old will not be sold this summer and the club would be willing to risk losing him on a free next year when his contract expires.

But should Sanchez push for an exit, Arsenal would prefer to sell to Bayern Munich, rather than a direct Premier League rival such as Manchester City, who have made the forward one of their priority targets for the window.

Earlier this week, Bayern president Uli Hoeness hinted that a deal for Sanchez could be too expensive for the German champions.

But Ancelotti now claims his side are firmly in the race to sign Arsenal’s leading goalscorer last season.

‘If an opportunity comes up, the club will be ready,’ the Italian told reporters at a media conference on Saturday.

‘There are lots of rumours. Alexis is a great player but not the only one in the world. I like Alexis.’

Sanchez has been offered a deal close to £300,000 a week to stay at Arsenal, but on Friday, the forward revealed that he had already made up his mind about what he wants to do this summer.
