Arsenal have edged closer to signing Thomas Lemar after agreeing personal terms with the Monaco midfielder, according to reports.

The Sun claims that the Gunners have agreed a financial package worth £90,000-a-week with the France international’s representatives.

It’s also reported that Lemar has informed Monaco that he wants to join Arsene Wenger’s side this summer.

Arsenal, however, are yet to agree a fee with Monaco and the Ligue 1 champions have already rejected two bids.

The Gunners opened with a £30 million offer and have followed that up this week with a £40m bid.

But Monaco are demanding £80m for the 21-year-old, who was signed from Caen for just €4m deal in 2015.

Arsenal have already broken their transfer record this week with the £52m signing of Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon, but it’s likely that Wenger will need to smash that barrier once again in order to land Lemar.

Due to the high fee Monaco are demanding, Wenger is also exploring the possibility of signing Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City.

The Foxes deny that Arsenal have submitted an offer for the Algeria international but it’s understood that he would be available for around £35m.
