Antoine Griezmann has again tweeted his support for Alexandre Lacazette after the striker got off the mark for his new club Arsenal.

Lacazette came on in the second half of Arsenal’s first pre-season friendly against Sydney FC and buried the first chance he got.

Arsenal fans will be hoping it is a sign of things to come from their record-signing after four years of chasing the France international.

Lacazette and Griezmann are international team-mates and were on track to be club team-mates before Atletico Madrid’s transfer ban binned the striker’s move to Spain.

And with Lacazette off the mark (at least in pre-season) for Arsenal, Griezmann was sending messages to his friend again.

Arsenal swooped to sign the prolific goalscorer when his move to Atletico collapsed and Griezmann was quick to congratulate the Gunners.

Griezmann promised Arsenal fans this month that they had obtained a striker ‘full of goals’ when his capture was announced.

The duo could have formed a formidable partnership at Atletico, but instead the frontman will be attempting to become Arsenal’s undisputed No.1.

Lacazette has some serious footsteps to fill when it comes to Frenchmen at the Emirates with Thierry Henry Arsenal’s all-time top scorer and probably the best player to ever play pull on the shirt.

Arsenal ran out 2-0 winners against Sydney FC and will continue their pre-season preparations against Western Sydney Wanderers on Saturday.

The Gunners will take on Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Benfica and Sevilla before the end of their pre-season.
