Arsenal must be sick of the sight of Bayern Munich and it appears that was the case quite literally for new signing Sead Kolasinac.

The Bosnia international, who arrived on a free transfer from Schalke earlier this summer, lasted just 42 minutes against the German champions in Shanghai before appearing to succumb to illness.

Kolasinac was nowhere to be seen as Bayern exploited a massive gap on the left-hand side of Arsenal’s defence shortly before half time, creating a clear chance for James Rodriguez who saw his effort blocked at point-blank range by Petr Cech.

Arsenal fans were left wondering where on earth their new left-back was but, but the camera quickly panned to the site of Kolasinac being escorted down the tunnel by one of Arsene Wenger’s medical staff.

With the temperature a scorching 33 degrees and a humidity level of 60% it was no wonder the wing-back was feeling the pace of the game but he could also have been suffering from the same illness which forced Arsenal to omit Per Mertesacker from their starting line-up, having originally planned to start the club captain in the prestige friendly.

A makeshift backline of Mohamed Elneny, Kristian Bielik and Nacho Monreal struggled to contain Bayern in a first half dominated by Carlo Ancelotti’s side, who battered the Gunners 10-2 on aggregate in last season’s Champnions League last-16 tie.
