Barcelona president Josep Bartomeu has promised the club’s fans that Neymar won’t be making a transfer to Paris Saint-Germain this summer despite growing speculation over his future.

The Catalan giants are sweating over the future of their star player as reports continue to suggest he wants the big-money move to the French capital to go through.

In the last 24 hours alone, it has been claimed that Neymar has told his Barca team-mates he’s going and that he’s agreed personal terms with PSG, who are poised to trigger his release clause next week.

Barcelona have insisted throughout this saga that they won’t let the 25-year-old go, and Bartomeu again made a vow that the plan was to keep him.

Asked by reporters if he could guarantee Neymar would be staying, Bartomeu said: ‘Yes, it is what we have always said.’

This echoes the views of Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde, who yesterday said: ‘Neymar is with us and we absolutely want him to stay here, the rest is just rumours.’

PSG are also being strongly linked with Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez, only to be met with a similar response from Gunners boss Arsene Wenger today.

The Frenchman described reports linking the Chilean with the Ligue 1 giants as ‘only media imagination’ and when asked if they had any advantage over Premier League clubs in the race for his signature, he replied simply: ‘No.’

Neymar has been at Barcelona since 2013, and has scored 105 goals in 186 games for the club.
