Arsenal defender Rob Holding has finally revealed what he said to Diego Costa during their altercation during the Gunners’ FA Cup final win over Chelsea back in May.

The youngster played a blinder at Wembley after surprisingly working his way into the Arsenal first-team towards the end of last season while others were out injured.

Costa may have scored the equaliser in the second half, but struggled to make his usual impact overall and seemed to be too easily wound up by Holding as they clashed in the first period.

Holding discussed the incident in a Q&A event today, and admits he trolled the Spaniard by suggesting he wasn’t right in the head.

Asked what he said to Costa, Holding answered: ‘An expletive, then I just called him a nutter basically. Something’s not right in his head I don’t think.

‘I knew what he was going to play like, I knew he was going to try the mind games and try and throw me off my game, so I just didn’t rise to it and got back into position.

‘I think he sort of tapped my chest so I think there was a little bit of respect there maybe, so he was alright.’
