Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is keen to sign a full-back of proven quality and could put Luke Shaw up for sale to raise funds for the move.

Shaw, 22, had a difficult campaign last term and played just once between December and March despite being deemed match fit throughout.

The England international is keen to stay at Old Trafford and his agent insisted last week that Shaw ‘loves’ the club.

However, Mourinho remains keen on signing a dynamic left-back and could let Shaw go to raise funds and make room for the signing, according to the Daily Record.

Shaw is currently injured but has resumed full training with his team-mates and is expected to be match fit by September.

The former Southampton defender has had little luck since sealing a £30million move to the club in 2014 and suffered a horrific double leg break in a clash with PSV Eindhoven in 2015.

Tottenham, Liverpool and Everton are all likely to be interested in Shaw should he become available, while there will be interest from abroad.

Mourinho is believed to be keen on signing Tottenham ace Danny Rose but United’s relationship with Spurs means a deal is unlikely.
