Andres Iniesta has admitted he is considering his Barcelona future for the first time.

The news will come as a huge blow to the Catalan giants with the midfielder having been a key component of their most recent era of success.

Having come through the youth system Iniesta has won eight La Liga titles and lifted the Champions League four times.

But just weeks after Neymar departed the Nou Camp, Iniesta has revealed he could soon be doing the same.

‘Right now, I have still not signed a new contract,’ the 33-year-old told El Pais.

He continued: ‘I have felt many strange feelings for the first time, but I think this may be normal.

‘This is a scenario that, probably three years ago, I could never have imagined.

‘Let’s say that I am considering my future when I didn’t do it before.’

Iniesta’s comments will spark speculation over where he could move. The most likely scenario would see him follow the same path as previous Barcelona legends and take a financially lucrative offer in a sub-standard league. His former team-mates David Villa and Xavi moved to the MLS and Middle East respectively.

‘He is one of the best players in the world and I’m not just talking about my era. I’m talking about in the history of the game.’

His comments could also have an impact on Barcelona’s pursuit of Philippe Coutinho. The Spanish outfit have already made three bids for the Brazilian, all of which have been rebuffed by Liverpool. But with a replacement for Iniesta required, their desperation to sign him could see them return to Anfield with an improved offer.
