Chelsea are in pole position to sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Arsenal despite substantial interest from Liverpool, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Premier League champions are yet to make an improved offer for the England international but Antonio Conte is keen to bring him to Stamford Bridge.

Conte has told the Chelsea board to secure deals for three of four more players before the window closes next week and Oxlade-Chamberlain is a top target.

The 24-year-old has been at the Emirates since 2011 and has won three FA Cups with the Gunners, but rejected Arsenal’s most recent contract offer and sees his future elsewhere.

It is claimed Oxlade-Chamberlain has informed Arsene Wenger of his desire to leave and Arsenal will now attempt to get as much money as possible from a deal.

The versatile star is valued at around £35million and while Jurgen Klopp is monitoring the situation, the Mirror say Chelsea remain frontrunners in the transfer race.

Arsenal travel to Anfield on Sunday to take on Liverpool but Wenger may opt to leave Oxlade-Chamberlain out due to the intense speculation over his future.
