Chelsea are set to make a concrete offer for Swansea City striker Fernando Llorente this week, according to the Independent.

Antonio Conte is keen to strengthen his attacking options before the window closes on Thursday night and views Llorente as an ideal mentor and back-up for record signing Alvaro Morata.

Conte signed Llorente for Juventus and the 32-year-old impressed for Swansea last season, scoring 15 goals in 33 league games.

Paul Clement’s charge have previously shown an unwillingness to sell the striker but the Independent claim a deal could be possible as Swansea close in on Wilfried Bony.

Still, an issue may arise over the fee as while Chelsea were hoping to secure his signature for around £20m, the Welsh club believe £30m is closer to his valuation.

The Premier League champions are also believed to be making progress on a deal for Leicester City and England midfielder Danny Drinkwater.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Ross Barkley have also emerged as targets for former Italy boss Conte, who wants to bolster his English core at Stamford Bridge.

Speaking about the club’s activity in the transfer market with just four full days of the window remaining, Conte said on Sunday: ‘There are four days to go in the transfer market.

‘I think the club is working very hard to try to improve our squad.

‘Don’t forget that in September we have to play seven games and I need to rotate my players because it’s very difficult to play seven games in a month with the same players.
