Phil Neville thought Arsenal spent big on Sead Kolasinac this summer (Picture: Getty)

Phil Neville may want to stay away from social media for a while after he made an embarrassing blunder regarding Sead Kolasinac’s move to Arsenal this week.

Despite Arsene Wenger inexplicably dropping Kolasinac to the bench for Arsenal’s 4-0 humiliation at Liverpool, the defender has been hailed as one of the signings of the summer following a strong start in north London.

The 24-year-old Bosnian arrived at the Emirates for free as his contract at Schalke expired but ex-Manchester United man Neville appeared to forget this key fact live on television.

‘They’ve spent big money on him [Alexandre Lacazette] and they’ve spent big money on Kolasinac – they should have started,’ he said on Sky Sports following the Gunners’ defeat at Anfield.

‘I can’t understand why Kolasinac didn’t start.’

Arsenal fans are now begging the club to actually spend some money after picking up only three points from a possible nine in the Premier League.

Julian Draxler, Raheem Sterling, Thomas Lemar, Jonny Evans and Virgil van Dijk are among the names to have been linked with Arsenal in recent weeks.
