Arsenal have accepted a deal in principle to sell Alexis Sanchez to Manchester City, according to the Daily Mirror.

Pep Guardiola is determined to bring the Chilean superstar to the Etihad and City saw their opening offer of £50m rejected earlier in the week.

Arsene Wenger has publically stated that Sanchez will not be sold but the latest offer – £55million up front and a further £5m in add-ons – is believed to be deemed acceptable.

However, Arsenal will wait to see if they are able to sign Thomas Lemar from Monaco before sanctioning Sanchez’s exit.

The north London outfit have submitted a stunning £90m bid for the Frenchman, who Wenger last week said would remain at Monaco.

Asked about Arsenal’s interest in the midfielder, Wenger said: ‘It’s dead.

‘Monaco has closed the door. They are still on cases like Kylian Mbappe and Fabinho (who are close to joining PSG).

‘They’ve already lost Mendy, Bernardo Silva and Bakayoko, so Monaco is at a stage where they have closed the door.’

The future of Sanchez has been one of the sagas of the summer and it appeared Arsenal would hang on to the Chile star despite his refusal to extend his contract at the Emirates.

The 28-year-old was strongly linked with Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain earlier in the window but his contract demands proved a major stumbling block.

But now the Mirror claim Sanchez will put pen to paper on a contract worth £300,000-a-week at City – less than his most recent contract offer from Arsenal – although he will have significantly more bonuses.

Wenger has already seen England international Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain leave the club on deadline day after his £40m move to Liverpool was confirmed.
