Swansea City striker Fernando Llorente wants to join Chelsea and will hold out until the dying hours of the transfer window before accepting a move to Tottenham.

Antonio Conte tried to sign the Spaniard in January but Swansea were desperate to keep hold of him for their relegation fight.

Chelsea spent big on Alvaro Morata earlier in the window but Conte still wants Llorente as back-up with Michy Batshuayi likely to leave on loan.

The Blues remained hopeful of agreeing a deal for Llorente in the last days of the window but did not anticipate Tottenham’s interest.

Spurs agreed a fee of around £14m with Swansea late on Wednesday night and Llortente’s move to the club is believed to be close to completion.

However, according to the Evening Standard, the 32-year-old remains keen on reuniting with Conte and is holding out for Chelsea to match Spurs’ offer.

Swansea are closing in on former striker Wilfried Bony as a replacement and have agreed a £12m deal with Manchester City for the Ivory Coast international.
