Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere blamed the Gunners’ 3-0 defeat to Manchester City on referee Craig Pawson in an Instagram post today.

Goals from Sergio Aguero, Vincent Kompany and David Silva handed Pep Guardiola his first trophy at the Etihad in what was a resounding victory at Wembley.

Aguero appeared to nudge Shkodran Mustafi in the build-up to the opener but Pawson waved play on while Leroy Sane was deemed to be in an offside position for Kompany’s goal.

Wilshere also believes one City player – possibly Fernandinho – should have been shown a red card and he made his feelings clear in an Instagram post today.

‘Hard to put into words my emotions about yesterday. City are a good team and deserved to win yesterday. Alot of people have had thier say on us and we have to accept cristism when we loos,’ said Wilshere.

‘That being said i can’t accept some of the decisions that went against us yesterday. What ever you say about the first goal, its a foul. The second goal is offside. There should have been a second yellow in the first half.

‘Yes this happens in football but its still hard to accept. And people will say we are looking for excuses but these are facts. Anyway we need to respond, starting on thursday.

‘Thanks to all the gooners for your support and trust me we feel the same but we need to stick together’

Arsenal have the opportunity to make amends for Sunday’s performance when they take on Manchester City again in the Premier League at the Emirates on Thursday.

Petr Cech is expected to be reinstated over David Ospina, while Henrikh Mkhitaryan could come in for Aaron Ramsey.
