Manchester United consider Simon Kjaer as a replacement for Nemanja Vidic
Manchester United have bid for Palermo defender Simon Kjaer amid growing concerns Nemanja Vidic wants to leave this summer.
Palermo have confirmed United's approach for £12m-rated Kjaer but say they have also received an offer from Manchester City.
Sportsmail revealed earlier this year that Vidic was to quit United, even though he is contracted to 2012, with Real Madrid, Barcelona and AC Milan all keen.
One in, one out? United have lined up Kjaer to replace Vidic
Last night his representative Paolo Fabbri said: 'It won’t be until after the World Cup that he makes a decision on his future. We have requested some time from United to think about things, and Nemanja has requested I do not speak about particular clubs. Any eventual transfer will take place after the World Cup.'
Kjaer, 21, has been courted by Arsenal also but Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini said: 'I have had requests for Kjaer from Manchester City and United, but there are still differences between what we want and what they are offering.'
