According to Spanish daily El Pais, The 21-year-old will sign a four-year deal with the European champions worth €10 million (£8.3m).

Since starring at the World Cup in South Africa, Ozil has been linked with some of Europe's biggest clubs, including Real Madrid, Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea.

The midfielder joined Werder Bremen in Jan 2008 for €4.25m (£3.5m) and was under contract until June 2011.

Meanwhile, in Italy's Serie A, Inter Milan duo Javier Zanetti and Diego Milito have extended their contracts at the San Siro.

Full-back Zanetti has signed on until June 2013 while Milito, who scored both goals as Inter beat Bayern Munich in the Champions League final back in May, has added 12 months to his contract which will now run until June 2014.

"I am happy and proud," 36-year-old Zanetti said. "I and my family thank the Moratti family, all of Inter and our fans who have always supported me and always will."

Milito, who joined the Nerazzurri from Genoa last summer, said: "I will always be grateful to a great club like Inter for choosing me, and to president Moratti for his faith in me."
