Barcelona have reached an agreement with Javier Mascherano according to reports from Spain and all that remains is for Pep Guardiola’s side to agree a fee with Liverpool for the midfielder’s services.

The Camp Nou giants had sent a bid of some €15M over to Anfield for the Argentina captain, however this was deemed too little by Liverpool, who are thought to have told Barcelona that they want at least €26M for Mascherano.

Catalan radio station RAC1 reports that Mascherano has already agreed personal terms with Barcelona and is nervously awaiting the green light on the move, aware that the two clubs could yet fail to agree a fee, scuttling the deal as happened with Cesc Fabregas and Arsenal earlier in the summer.

Reds boss Roy Hodgson is willing to let Mascherano leave, but only if he is able to agree a fee which he feels reflects the player’s value. However, with the Argentina international desperate to swap Anfield for the Camp Nou, it is surely only a matter of time before a compromise is reached and he is able to be presented as Barca’s newest acquisition.
