Everton’s start to this season has been getting progressively less enjoyable and it just got a whole lot worse. Rodwell and Saha are both injured for a match in which Everton really need to win against an opponent which would cause them no end of difficulties at the best of times.

There’s no escaping the fact that this is the Toffees' worst start to a season since 1999 and Moyes will be starting to sweat. Everton traditionally don’t start well, but this is starting to get silly with a team supposed to challenge for a spot in Europe only taking away one point from their first three matches.

On the other hand, the last time Manchester United lost away from home was a 3-1 defeat at this very fixture last season, added to which there is the fact that Everton haven’t lost a home match in a very, very long time.

Rooney is likely to make an appearance at his former club and with his private life in the press again he is likely to get somewhat of a worse reception at Everton than usual, not that any visit to Goodison is without its hostilities for him.

United are in serious need of a win with Chelsea hammering every opponent that has the misfortune to play against them at the moment if they are to have any chance of continuing with their title hopes, it looks like Chelsea aren’t planning many slip-ups this season. Still, with the way Everton have been playing, this has to be the perfect time for United to play them.
