Gigi Delneri welcomed his old team into the home of his new Juventus on Sunday, and the game was lived up to its prematch hype. Six goals, some fantastic football and many positives for fans of il Bianconeri to take from the performances. Given the position Sampdoria finished in last season and the other results in Serie A this past weekend a draw was a good result for Juve here.

Marco Storari: 6.5

Despite conceeding three times, the ex-Samp man can be pleased with his display. Almost kept out the second goal and made two great one-on-one saves to keep Juve in the game.

Marco Motta: 5

A poor game from the young right-back, but that is going to happen with such an attacking player. He needs more cover and help from the midfielder in front of him. The mistakes he made are lessons he must learn from and improve. Antonio Cassano tormented him most of the match, but does so to far better defenders than Motta.

Leonardo Bonucci: 5.5

Not up to his previous impressive levels, and its difficult to see how much of that was down to Motta's poor showing. Still learning Delneri's system, but his partnership with Chiellini will only get stronger the more they play together.

Giorgio Chiellini: 6

For once Chiellini wasn't at his best, again perhaps more due to the performances of those around him than his own deficiencies, but Juve need him to be the leader of this young unit.

Paolo De Ceglie: 6

Much more assured in defence than recent performances, although when 'Doria brought on Marilungo as a substitute he looked unsure once more. Suffered from Pepe's poor defensive showing much like Motta. In possession he provides a good outlet and his crossing is improving almost every week.

Milos Krasic: 7.5

Direct, frighteningly fast, excellent control. All in all a fantastic showing from the new signing, Not only did he create one goal but was responsible for another and also made a great contribution defensively. A very impressive performance and hopefully the first of many. Player of the Day

Felipe Melo: 6

Not as assured as his last two performances, but still did well despite being the only midfield player providing cover for large portions of the game. Did well to subdue Palombo, who usually runs the game for Sampdoria.

Claudio Marchisio: 6.5

A wonderfully taken goal, but still much work to do to be the all-action player that Juve fans know he can be. Again the sooner his contract issues are resolved the better.

Simone Pepe: 6.5

A strange performance from Pepe, who did well at things he normally struggles with but struggled in areas he usually performs well. The work-rate and defensive effort were missing but his attacking display was unrecognisable from his Bari showing. Scored one, and another came after he hit the post.

Alessandro Del Piero: 6

The emotion of the anniversary of his debut 17 years ago seemed to affect the captain but he almost marked the occasion with a trademark free kick. Faded in the second half and him not being substituted was a strange move from Delneri.

Fabio Quagliarella: 6.5

If Pepe having a bizarre performance wasn't enough Juve also had a scrappy goal from the man who usually only contributes spectacular efforts! His partnership with Del Piero is still ineffective but the ex-Napoli man has played well in both games for his new club.

Substitutes

Zdenek Grygera: 6

Came on to provide the solidity that Motta was missing, did it well.

Alberto Aquilani: NM

A late debut from a player many expected to start.

Vincenzo Iaquinta: NM

Another late sub, but great to see him back.
