EPL Giants: Samba, Crouch and 10 Biggest Players Of The Premier League

0 of 10

The English Premier League is a world famous league, with not only the English stars playing here but also the players from other leagues and countries coming here every season to leave their footprints.

One of the most interesting things today in the English soccer is the speed and physicality of the game. The other leagues have not been so tough and rough like the EPL.

Speaking of utmost physicality in the game, the EPL hosts some players who are just too hard to check. Their physique, their height, body build, and weight makes them what we call "Giants".

So, here I present to you 10 of the biggest men of the EPL, some biggest, some toughest and some tallest. Let's see the EPL Giants of 2010-11.

Ryan Nelsen: Muscle Power Is What Matters

1 of 10

    Club: Blackburn Rovers

    Height: 6 feet 1 inch

    Weight: 89 Kgs

    Position: Central Defender

So, you may ask, that there are taller and heavier players than Nelsen around, but as I said, here muscle power is what matters.

New Zealand's Nelsen has got a solid muscular he-man type build and is one of the few players in the EPL to host such a show of firmness and solidity.

Richard Dunne: The Monster From Villa

2 of 10

    Club: Aston Villa

    Height: 6 feet 2 inches

    Weight: 95 Kgs

    Position: Central Defender

We all love this Irish player perhaps. He is the hero of the Aston Villa super performance in the last season. Be it in the air, or be it on the ground, Dunne was absolutely dominating.

Though presently, Dunne and his club are both playing far below than their last season performance, yet we expect the Dunny Monster to make his strong comeback soon.

Peter Cech: The Giant Goalie

3 of 10

    Club: Chelsea

Height: 6 feet 5 and a half inch

    Weight: 87 Kgs

    Position: Goalkeeper

Petr Cech as a goalkeeper is a legend now, he is one of the best surely. And here we give him another status, one of the top ten giants of the EPL.

Zat Knight: The Bolton Wall

    Club: Bolton Wanderers

    Height: 6 feet 6 inches

    Weight: 86 Kgs

    Position: Central Defender

Though Zat Knight may not be a world class defender or even a good defender as we say, but his presence in the field cannot be ignored. Especially if you are seeing a Bolton home match.

The England back is like a massive giant with his height and weight all creating troubles for the scorers. only God could have given him more football talents.

Brede Hangeland: Fulham's Full Giant Tale

    Height: 6 ft 4.5 inch

    Weight: 92 Kgs

    Position: Central Defender

Brede Hangeland is surely one of the rare talents we found in English football. He plays real good, and is one of the reasons for Fulham's last season impressive performance.

With Fulham's defense already being strong, Hangeland's giant presence adds to the worries of the opponents.

Sotirios Kyrgiakos: The Reds Big Show

With his pony tail hair tied up with a band and his immense physical presence both in defense and during the corners of a match, Kyrgiakos may easily be regarded as the Greek Hercules in a Reds uniform.

    Height: 6 feet 5 inches

    Weight: 90 Kgs

    Position: Central Defender

Chris Smalling is one of the newest Red Devils, signed from Fulham just at the beginning of the season. He is tall and heavy and has a distinct body advantage over the others. Sir Alex Ferguson purchased him for a reason, he is till a raw talent, and we hope being polished he will show his skills.

Peter Crouch: The Lean Giant From White Hart Lane

    Club: Tottenham Hotspur

    Height: 6 feet 7 inch

    Weight: 71 Kgs

    Position: Forward

While Peter Crouch is surely one of the tallest men playing soccer around the world, he has been to other news also with a hot girlfriend and a second affair.

The lean giant from White Hart Lane is one of the rare collections in the Giant category, and Harry Redknapp must be feeling proud of hosting Crouch.

Christopher Samba: Giant Indeed

    Height: 6 feet 4 inches

    Weight: 91 Kgs

    Position: Central Defender

Has Samba happened to come from WWE or something like that? He looks so. Tough, aggressive and bullish on the game, Samba's physical presence is just too hard to deny. Imagine what will happen to you if you ever get into a tackle with Samba?

Nikola Zigic: The Tallest Player In EPL?

10 of 10

DERBY, ENGLAND - JULY 31: Nikola Zigic of Birmingham City in action during the Pre-Season Friendly match between Derby County and Birmingham City at the County Ground on July 31, 2010 in Derby, England. (Photo by Matthew Lewis/Getty Images)

    Club: Birmingham City

    Height: 6 feet 7.5 inch

    Weight: 96 Kgs

    Position: Forward

Birmingham beats Tottenham. How? By Nikola Zigic. Clearly, Tottenham Hotspur with Crouch would have won this place but Nikola Zigic from Birm City wins it by just 0.5 inches. The Serbian International is really a giant one on the field, and with little more adaption to EPL and more practice, he can take his game up to the next level.
