Boost: Lampard is set to return from injury

Lampard has been sidelined for three months with a chronic groin problem. But the Chelsea midfielder is said to be flying in training and, having not suffered any more setbacks, believes he is ready for first-team action.

Ancelotti could yet decide to be cautious and he will spend the next 48 hours assessing Lampard before picking his team the White Hart Lane clash.

But Ancelotti is in a desperate situation as Chelsea have lost four of their past eight games and surrendered a clear lead in the Barclays Premier League.

Chelsea face Manchester United and Arsenal after their match with Spurs and defeat in all three games would put Ancelotti in serious jeopardy.

Owner Roman Abramovich caused much of the chaos with the dismissal of Ray Wilkins and several key players are injured.

Lampard has probably been missed the most and his return would certainly come at a good time for his Italian manager.
