Doncaster's Championship match at home to Ipswich on Tuesday was postponed as the freezing conditions across the country continued to hit the sporting programme.

Afrozen pitch at the Keepmoat Stadium has forced the game to be called off.

Rovers director of football Micky Walker told the club's website: 'In all my years in football I have not seen a playing surface as solid as the one we have here at the Keepmoat.'

The League One matches between Colchester and Oldham, Hartlepool and Leyton Orient, Brentford and Tranmere, Carlisle and Exeter and Rochdale and Bristol Rovers were also called off due to the wintry weather.

More fixtures are expected to fall with pitch inspections at grounds across the country due to take place throughout the day.

Rangers' Clydesdale Bank Premier League match at St Johnstone on Wednesday night has also been postponed due to weather conditions.

Sheffield Wednesday's match with Peterborough on January 1 has already been called off.
