Arsenal striker being chased by string of Spanish clubs

Arsenal Mexico international Carlos Vela is being chased by a string of La Liga clubs keen on taking the Emirates squad man to Spain.

Vela is arguably Arsene Wenger's fifth-choice striker and he has not started a Premier League game yet this season despite the absence of Robin Van Persie and Nicklas Bendtner, who have both been injured.

Vela was very much a long-term project for Wenger, who sent him out on loan for two years in Spain in order for the youngster to receive a work permit.

And his performances during spells at Celta Vigo, Salamanca and Osasuna suggested he could be a hit on his arrival in the Premier League. But, with just three goals in 29 top-flight appearances, Vela is yet to live up to his potential.

Now reports in Spain have revealed that Valencia, Villarreal, Sevilla, Espanyol and Atletico Madrid are all keen on doing a deal for the out-of-favour Mexican.
