Suarez first interested Tottenham Hotspur last summer but Ajax are said to be ready to do business with the Premier League club, according to a report in the Independent, and could sell the player for around £17 million.
Such a fee would see Spurs break their transfer record, with Luka Modric the club's biggest signing at £15.5m.
Suarez was impressive at last year's World Cup and is regarded as one of the best strikers currently plying their trade in the Dutch league.
One of the drawbacks to signing Suarez, however, is the fact he would be cup-tied for the Champions League.
He was also caught up in controversy earlier this season and suspended for seven matches for biting the shoulder of PSV Eindhoven's Otman Bakkal.
