Latest Players Linked with LFC:

Marvin Sordell is a name which might not be familiar to those who don't watch football outside of the Premiership, but the Watford starlet has certainly taken his chance this season as he makes the breakthrough into the first team, with nine goals to date. The 19-year old forward is being kept tabs on by both Liverpool and Birmingham City according to The People.

Daniel Agger, recently returned to the starting lineup after injury, is wanted by Juventus of Italy. imscouting.com report that the Corrielle dello Sport newspaper says that the Turin club would like to sign him in this transfer window. Agger has also been linked with Werder Bremen recently but Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson has refuted suggestions he was being offered for a move. Rated at up to 10 € million, the Dane is one of Liverpool's best possession players and thankfully imscouting.com is frequently off the mark - lets hope this is one of those times.

The Reds have been linked with signing midfielder Barton - no, don't worry, not the Newcastle-based thug who had the pervy 'tache at the beginning of the season, but Preston North End's Adam Barton, who is rated at up to £5 million. The Daily Mirror claims that Liverpool are watching the 19 year old Northern Ireland international with a view to making a deal which would include several add-ons to enable a lower initial purchase price.

The Mail Online goes with the manager - Roy Hodgson is on borrowed time according to Dominic King and the falling crowds (10.000 less than usual were present at the Bolton game) and inconsistency in results have led FSG to search for a new manager, possibly with a caretaker manager appointed in the meantime. Jurgen Klopp of Dortmund and Didier Deschamps of Marseille are the stand-out candidates to take over in summer according to King.

Staying with the manager theme, the Daily Post drops an alternative name into the mix with Ralf Rangnick being a candidate. The ex-Hoffenheim boss left his post recently after a player was sold against his wishes. Deschamps, Villas-Boas and Klopp are also all mentioned as possibles.

The Hamburg daily newspaper Morgenpost is reported to have received news that Hamburg winger Eljero Elia has agreed to a move to Liverpool for 15 € million. The World Cup runner-up was linked with Liverpool last season under Rafa Benitez and seemingly the interest in him has not gone away. The 23 year old made several substitute appearances in South Africa but has been out of favour at his club this season and has made just six starts to date in the Bundesliga.

Following on from their rumoured interest in on-loan left back Emiliano Insua, ESPN Star reports that West Ham also had interest in taking current Reds left back Paul Konchesky back to London in a loan move, but FIFA rules have scuppered their chances of doing so after Konchesky played once for Fulham this season prior to his move to Anfield - FIFA do not permit a player to register for three clubs in one season.

metro.co.uk identifies Birmingham City as the pursuers of Ryan Babel, who they want to bolster their strikeforce.

Eljero Elia is again the subject of interest from LFC according mirrorfootball.co.uk, though they say no offer has yet been made. They also make references to Hodgson having three other attacking targets - Chelsea's Daniel Sturridge, Ivory Coast and FC Cluj hitman Lacina Traore and Ajax vampire Luis Suarez. No price tags are mentioned and the article claims Hodgson will have to sell before he buys.

imscouting.com run with the same story about Daniel Agger being on Juventus' wishlist.

In the first roundup of the transfer rumours we read that Ricky van Wolfswinkel, Utrecht forward, was a 'done deal' for £8 million in the summer according to one source; however TalkSport have today claimed that Napoli are in fact in pole position to land the hitman and Liverpool are fearful of missing out on him altogether.

And finally, regarding the speculation surrounding the manager's position, the Telegraph claims Roy Hodgson has appealed to the clubs owners to let him build the club in his image by signing the players he wants, while Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp has stated that he has not been approached by Liverpool regarding the currently-unavailable position, according to the Guardian.
