Rafael van der Vaart: Spurs have made me love football again - now go and get Mark van Bommel!

Rafael van der Vaart has rediscovered his love for football at Tottenham and wants to stay at the club for many years.

And the midfielder is keen for his fellow Dutchman Mark van Bommel to join him at Harry Redknapp's side as they look to become regular Champions League participants.

The 27-year-old has proved an instant hit since his move to White Hart Lane in August after an unhappy two years at Real Madrid.

'After my time at Real Madrid, which was not a very happy one, I have rediscovered my love for the game at Tottenham,' said Van der Vaart.

'My heart is now at Tottenham. It is not a huge club but rather a real traditional club, like I have already learned to love at Hamburg or Ajax.'

Tottenham is Van der Vaart's fourth club in four different countries and he feels the time has come to stay put for a while.

'The changes should now come to an end. Also for my family. My son speaks four languages by now. That's enough,' he said.

'I feel settled in London and would like to play here for many years.'

Van der Vaart admits Tottenham have work to do before they can even be considered the best team in North London and feels Van Bommel, out of contract at Bayern Munich at the end of the season, would be a good addition.

'He is a super player with lots of experience, who would help any team,' he said.

'Tottenham want to take the next step to get to the same level as our local rivals Arsenal. I think that is possible. Therefore we can use good players.'
